Job Description
The Financial Operations Manager is accountable for assisting in the accounting operations of the Company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, ensure the accuracy of the Company’s reported financial results, and ensure that financial statements comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). General accounting responsibilities include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and assisting with period-end closes.
Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $115,000 Annually
Essential Job Functions
- Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from other departments.
- Assist with the annual budget and reforecast processes & liaise with Company business leads to accomplish these tasks.
- Provide quarterly guidance for forecasting the Company’s annual results.
- Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals.
- Analyzes and verifies information and options by developing Excel spreadsheet reports.
- Investigate and provide written analytical reports to CFO and Controller on significant variances to budget and prior periods.
- Contribute to the monthly, quarterly and annual closings and complete deliverables due to Parent Company in a timely manner.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company construction projects or special projects.
- Develops and improves accounting procedures by analyzing current workflow and recommending changes where needed.
- Assist, learn, implement, review and enforce all internal control policies and procedures.
- Protects organization by keeping information confidential.
- Participates in audits and exams by external parties as needed.
- Assists with the preparation of tax returns (Sales, Parking, Personal Property, etc.).
- Interface with outside accounting firm, banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies.
- Assists CFO and Controller with various projects and other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements/Experience/ Education:
- 7+ years’ work experience in accounting operations (AP, AR, billing, GL account recs, etc.)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA or CPA preferred but not required.
- Must work well with others, display a positive attitude and be a quick study.
- Advanced EXCEL skills a MUST.
- Strong analytical skills a MUST.
- Deadline-oriented, with attention to detail.
- Solution and goal oriented.
- Strong communications skills (both verbal and written).
- Good understanding of the construction industry; previous HVAC industry experience a big plus.
